Cars – If you’re traveling by car, registered in the Russian Federation, you must have:
A registration certificate and driver’s license.
If the car is rented or borrowed – General Power of Attorney, notarized, with the right to export the vehicle from the Russian Federation.
At the border you need to fill in “the customs declaration of the vehicle and pay the fee for the formulation of transport at the time of recording. Registration in the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Abkhazia traffic police at the place of rest is required.

Documents required for crossing the border of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Abkhazia.

For Russians and citizens of CIS countries:

• – a tourist voucher or a voucher for accommodation

• – For children under age of 18 traveling without parents- notarized consent from both parents to a person who accompanies the child  (excluding the virtual absence of one of them – in this case is granted power of attorney from a single parent)

For foreign citizens:
• Login to the site http://www.mfaabkhazia.net/
• Fill out the form for entry into Abkhazia, located in the section “Consular Services”.
• mail the completed form and copy of your passport along with a recent photo of the applicant by e-mail to: mid@Abhazia.net; midraconsul@mail.ru. As a general rule, applications are processed within 5 working days.
• When an entry permit is ready, the consular officer will send it by fax or email.Tourists have to get the originalvisa document for Abkhazia from Foreign Ministry in the territory of Abkhazia.
For entry into Abkhazia foreign citizen must have a double or multiple entry visa to Russia.

Tourists haveto buy accident insurance “Abhazgosstrah”, according to the laws of the Republic of Abkhazia at the border. Insurance

Insurance of persons
State company Abhazgosstrah “provides compulsory insurance from accidents for foreign nationals and stateless persons. The insurance fee for persons who arrive in the territory of the Republic of Abkhazia for 1 to 3 days is 30 rubles per person. For a period of 4 days to 1 month the price is 250 rubles. Persons arriving in Abkhazia for a period of 30 to 180 days pay a fee of 750 rubles. Children under 6 years are not subject to insurance.

Car Insurance

Those newly arrived in Abkhazia need to insure their vehicles. The insurance premium from OSAGO depends on the duration and type of transport and ranges from 100 to 5000 rubles. Thus, the fee for passenger cars and minivans with the number of seats up to 8 inclusive, staying for 3 days, is 200 rubles. For buses for the same period – 500 rubles. A stay of one month is billed at 500 and 2000 rubles, respectively.

 

Items Insurance
Items placed insurance at the border post Psou in pedestrian and car zone. You can get insurance at the central office Abhazgosstraha in Sukhumi. Uninsured citizens are subjected to administrative fines.
Insurance payments in cases of accident make up to 30,000 rubles, and in case of accident – 15000 rubles.
